The CLCC is thrilled to have Dr. Judith Stillman as its new Director! Dr. Stillman is currently Artist-in-Residence and Professor of Music at Rhode Island College, and received her Master's and Doctoral degrees from The Juilliard School.
Dr. Stillman has received much acclaim as a concert pianist, having played and recorded with major artists including Wynton Marsalis, Mark O'Connor, the Muir and Borromeo String Quartets, Carol Wincenc, Maria Spacagna, Paula Robison, and many others. She was a featured artist at the Grammy's Celebration in honor of Mstislav Rostropovich, and in 1997 was awarded the First Annual Claiborne Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts.
Dr. Stillman also has a long-term passion for working with voices, and in this capacity has served as Music Director and Choral Conductor for a number of theatrical, choral and operatic venues including: Music Director and Chorus Master at Operafestival di Roma in Rome and Verona, Italy; Choral Director at Merkin Hall in NYC; Choral Director at the Cate School in California; Music Director of the award-winning Madrigals Singers in La Jolla; Music Director for "Don Giovanni," "Cavelleria Rusticana," and numerous musicals including "Annie," "The Wizard of Oz," "Oliver!," "Fiddler on the Roof," "My Fair Lady," and "Oklahoma!."
Susan McClain Accompanist
A graduate of Rhode Island College, Ms McClain is an accomplished musical director and accompanist. She's worked with various choirs, schools, and theater groups for over 20 years, and received a regional theatre award for Musical Direction for a production of Tommy at the Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro, MA. She has also served as choir director for a number of local churches.
In addition, Sue sang with the CLCC in our alto section from 2005-2007. We are happy to welcome an old friend as our new accompanist!
